Kenan Arena Celebrates Completion of New Soccer Turf Installation and Annex Renovation ProjectsAn official "kick off" was held on January 27 to celebrate the completion of two arena upgrade projects that had been years in planning and fundraising efforts. A new soccer turf was installed during the month of December with a thicker, more grass-like turf, the original turf having been installed in the early 1990s. In addition, the Annex which had been previusly divided into classrroms, was gutted during the summer of 2010 and, through generous funding, was restored as an edditional recreational/event space and is currently being used for the winter soccer program. Additional amenities are planned for the Annex which will require continued fundraising. The Kenan Center is indebted to all the players and volunteers who raised a significant portion of the funds needed to replace the old turf through annual candy sales, as well as community funders including the Grigg-Lewis Foundation, Kenan Arts Council, Lockport Lions Club, and the Rotary Club of Lockport.

The Wings Roller Hockey League also hosts roller hockey clinics at the Kenan Center Arena, and it is the site of numerous large public events including the annual 100 American Craftsmen show, kickboxing championships, the Exchange Club Circus, and the Kenan Quilters' Guild biennial Quilt Show (coming next in November 2011.)
