Mom’s Night Out Vendor Returns for 5th Year

The Kenan Center in Lockport will host “Mom’s Night Out Vendor Fair,” Friday, May 4th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Kenan Center House and Taylor Theater. All proceeds benefit the Kenan Center Montessori Preschool. Admission is free for the event.

Vendors participating this year include Herbalty Cottage, Paparazzi Accessories, Vagabond Bowties, Arbonne, Ruby Ribbon, NK Aura, Chloe & Isabel, Barefoot Books, Kats Kreations, WNY Artifacts, Bling!, Stone Hollow Farm, Kevlin Creations, Pickle Annie’s, LuLaRoe, LipSense, Norwex, Steamworks Coffee, Young Living Essential Oils, Love the Buff, Fetch! Dog Treats, Flight of Five Winery, The Pearl & Stone, The Missing Peace Holistic Wellness Center, Hahn’s Pallister House, 31 Gifts, DNDesigns, SewStylish, Buffalo Tom’s Hot Sauce, Dilleto’s Chocolates, Loti Henna Studio, Queenie’s Painting Nook, McCollum Orchards, and Be Our Guest Travel Company.

Both an on-site café, catered by Hilltop Restaurant, and basket raffle will be featured during the event for guests to purchase food and tickets. The Kenan Center Montessori Preschool will also present a display of teacups and saucers painted by the preschool students.

Kenan Center Presents Storrs All High Photo Show

For the 33rd year, the Kenan Center in Lockport will present the Storrs All High Photo Show, featuring photos by students from 19 high schools from across Western New York. This year’s show opens Sunday, April 22 with a free public reception from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kenan Center House Gallery, 433 Locust St., Lockport.

Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. The exhibit continues through Sunday, May 11. Kenan Center House Gallery exhibitions are generously sponsored by M&T Bank, Grigg Lewis Foundation, Kenan Arts Council, Kenan Quilters’ Guild, and the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust. Award support for this exhibit was provided by The Buffalo News, the Buffalo Society of Artists, and individual sponsors.

Participating schools are Akron, Amherst, Barker, C.W. Baker, Cassadaga Valley, Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Depew, Kenmore East, Kenmore West, Nardin Academy, North Rose-Wolcott, Palmyra-Macedon, Pembroke, Pioneer, Southwestern, Springville Griffith Institute, Sweet Home, Tonawanda, Williamsville East, and Wilson.

Sixteen category awards will be presented. They are: Best School Overall, Best of Show, Student Processed and Best of Show Commercially Processed; Black & White, Color, Urbanscape; Landscape, Floralscape, Portrait, Waterscape, Computer Generated, Still Life, Journalism/ Documentary; Sports, Architecture, and Animal. In addition, one student form each school is recognized with a merit award.

The exhibit is named in honor of Lockport artist, William Storrs, who passed away in 2005. An accomplished artist and long-time contributor to visual arts programming at the Kenan Center, Storrs was instrumental in starting the All High Photo Show which was designed to showcase the photographic work of high school students throughout Western New York, and was an active participant in the installation of the works as well as the awards presentation.

The Kenan Center soccer program offers a 4-year-old clinic, and league play for ages 5-18. Forms are mailed to recent participants, or can be picked up at the Kenan Arena Office. Children & Music with Mary Dunn

Children & Music with Mary Dunn uses music to encourage early learning and creativity in young children. Music is the means, not the goal. American Sign Language and yoga are incorporated into classes. Mary Dunn, instructor, has taught a children’s music program at the Kenan Center for more than 21 years. For information, contact Mary Dunn at 531-3104. Fee: $110 Kenan members/$120 non-members. Deadline to register is March 9th.
