Event Planning & Promotions Intern

The Kenan Center, with funding through the Grigg Lewis Foundation, is seeking to fill one, full-time paid internships this summer. Deadline 4/5/2021.

Applicants must be enrolled in college for Fall 2021, and either live in eastern Niagara County or attend Niagara County Community College or Niagara University. This position require that the student work 300 hours between May 15 and Aug. 31 (flexible).

Summer Education Coordinator

The Kenan Center is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual to fill the position of the Education Coordinator for the KidQuest Summer Youth Program. Education Coordinator will be responsible for arranging individual instruction sessions and creating unique, engaging, fun, opportunities for children ages 3-5 year olds and 7-11 year olds with different classes being held every day in various venues around the Kenan Center campus.

The Education Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of coordinating and training educators to facilitate classes as well as collaboration with community partners.  The Education Coordinator will also work closely with Kenan staff members including maintenance department and Kenan Interns during the summer to develop, implement, and evaluate summer youth programming opportunities.

The Education Coordinator reports to the Events & Programs Manager. This year, KidQuest will run from July 12 – August 20, 2021. The position will require 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-2:00PM, with occasional later afternoon shifts.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach and community education by presenting information related to youth programming.
  • Assesses community needs to develop and prioritize programs.
  • Creates training and educational materials to be presented to KidQuest instructors.
  • Provides informational meetings with instructors including tours of campus.
  • Creates written contracts for KidQuest instructors.
  • Develops supply list needed for each instructor and class.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of internship employees and Summer Youth Program Assistant.
  • Markets program to enhance community awareness and engagement.
  • Creates daily specific work orders for individual classes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 1-2 years of customer service and/or working with youth. Strong leadership skills, proven ability to work independently and effectively communicate to various departments required.

Education: Associate’s degree to higher.

Location: All tasks take place on the entire Kenan Center Campus, including House, Education Building, Theater, Arena, and Grounds.
