Join us for the second concert in this year’s Jazz at The Taylor series. Trumpeter Mark Filsinger will lead an all-star quintet featuring New York City-based alto saxophonist, Bill Todd. The group will perform iconic jazz standards recorded by Chet Baker during his impressive 38-year career, including “I Fall In Love Too Easily,” “Like Someone in Love,” and “My Funny Valentine.”

Filsinger is a staple of the WNY jazz scene. A performer, composer and educator, he is artistic director of the Buffalo Jazz Collective and assistant professor of music at SUNY Buffalo State. Early in his development, Filsinger studied Baker’s repertoire and melodic approach to improvising. He models much of his style after Baker and looks forward to paying homage to one of his musical heroes.

According to jazz series producer, Kathleen Rooney, the public is encouraged to purchase tickets early, as concerts have been selling-out in advance. “We have been attracting audiences from all over the region,” said Kenan Center Executive Director, Susan Przybyl. “Our central location is convenient for fans from Erie, Niagara, Monroe, Orleans and Genesee counties. The response has been phenomenal.”

Tickets are $15 for Kenan Center members and $20 for the general public. Tickets are available online at Ticketleap, in person at the Kenan Center Business Office, or can be charged by calling 433-2617 (service fees apply to online and phone orders). Ample free parking is available onsite. The Taylor Theater is located on the campus of the Kenan Center at 433 Locust Street in Lockport, NY. Because seating is limited, advance tickets are recommended.
