2017 Annual Appeal Campaign: $50K for Our 50th!
A personal message from our co-chairs, Eric and Tracy Connor:
We are so excited to be the Annual Appeal co-chairs for this 50th Anniversary year of the Kenan Center!
We have been a part of all the great activities that the Kenan Center brings to our Lockport community for many years. Tracy and I are not natives of Lockport, so our relationship with Kenan began when our three children began participating in Mary Dunn’s music program for children when they were babies. We progressed to the soccer program when they became more mobile. Our youngest daughter, Marin, was able to be part of the first Montessori class held on the campus when Jennifer Anzalone accepted an invitation to join the Kenan Campus a few years ago. Marin is now an 8-year-old attending the KidQuest Summer Youth program with her older sister, Avery, including Theatre Enrichment with Peter D’Angelo.
All of our children continue to participate in different ways as they move from childhood into young adulthood. Avery and Marin along with their big brother, Jackson, continue to help out at the Preschool as Montessori alumni; or you may see them “running” menus and food at the Mom’s Night Out Vendor Fair. They always look forward to volunteering in the cafe for the Kenan Arts Council Holiday Gift Show, and being one of the many volunteers that assist with 100 American Craftsmen.
Most surprisingly, our children’s participation with the Kenan Center has lit a spark of leadership within them. They have begun to understand that the secret to a fulfilled life, is one of giving back to the community they live in. All the friends our family has made—from the teachers, volunteers, staff, and peers—have touched their lives in one way or another. The Kenan family has contributed to shaping them into productive citizens and life-long learners. William Rand Kenan, Jr. hoped his home would become the center of the community, for people to come and be with old friends, expand their learning, and make new friends along the way. From arts, education, and recreation, to everything in between, the Kenan Center has truly become a second home to us.
We would ask that you keep the Kenan Center strong by giving generously in this very special 50th year. We hope, for those of you who have been around long enough to see the Kenan Center grow from infancy and nurtured over these past 50 years, that you will celebrate by supporting this very special Annual Appeal and the vision we have for the next 50 years. The goal for this years’ Annual Appeal is $50,000. You have seen for yourself all the wonderful ways that Kenan Center impacts the community, enriching lives by providing cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities. We call on you to join us in making a contribution in this very special anniversary year.
Supporting the Kenan Center makes our community a better place. Thank you for the difference you can make.
