Mission

It is the purpose of the Kenan Center to provide, promote and support integrated and comprehensive cultural and recreational programs to the community. This is accomplished by developing and enlarging individual appreciation and understanding of history, science, religion, and the arts; and by encouraging an appreciation of our heritage and the understanding of its relevance to life as a whole.

Overview

Situated on 25 beautiful acres in Lockport, New York located in Niagara County, the historic Kenan Center campus is only a short drive from Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester and southern Ontario. Named for its benefactor, William Rand Kenan, Jr., the Kenan Center serves as a regional community center providing visitors and the community with arts, education and recreation programs.

Facilities include a sports arena, a converted carriage-house theater and community gathering room, an education building, outdoor recreational fields, a playground, and the Kenan house, an 1800's Victorian mansion featuring a year-round art gallery and formal gardens. Programs include a nursery school and extensive recreational offerings including gallery exhibits and the Family Performance Series. The Kenan Arena houses numerous special events, such as 100 American Craftsmen, throughout the year.
