The Kenan Center presents the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society National exhibit, October 19-November 16. A reception and awards presentation will be held Sunday, October 26 from 2-5 pm. The juried exhibition features 70 paintings by 58 artists. Juror for the exhibit was Jeannie McGuire, a Pittsburgh-based watercolor artist whose works have been displayed and awarded on an international level and represented in numerous art magazines. Gallery hours: M-F, noon-5 pm; Sat & Sun, 2-5 pm. Closed November 11. Read more.

Kenan Arts Council Holiday Gift Show

It's a holiday tradition! Gift Show dates are November 21-23 (always the weekend before Thanksgiving), and features a wonderful array of artisans, specialty food crafters, the Onstage Cafe, Gifts from the Garden, quilt raffle, and more. $4 admission. Read more.

Kenan Arts Council Offering Mini Grants for Arts Education

Teachers can apply for grants up to a maximum of $300 for projects in instrumental or vocal music, art, design, sculpting, or dance. Projects considered can be performances or art projects that will be completed by the students, or to help to cover costs of bringing artists/performers to your classroom. Funds will be distributed for use in the second semester. Download an application here. If you have further questions, email Patricia Russell at Deadline for applications is November 14.

Kenan Center Montessori Preschool

The Kenan Center's Montessori Preschool provides multi-sensory, multi-age group learning that's hands-on and child-centered for ages three to five. The program is half-day, 5 days a week. The Kenan Center is the perfect setting for a wedding, reception, meeting, or private party. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are available. Summer dates are limited and fill up quickly. Be sure to stop by the new Revolution Training & Fitness Center located on the second floor of the Arena. Revolution will offer a full range of personal and group training as well as popular classes like Zumba, Yoga, and Pilates. (Revolution Training & Fitness Center is independently owned and operated. Information regarding membership and classes, will be available at the Fitness Center.)

4th Annual Niagara Wine & Beer Tasting Fest, January 24

Chosen two years in a row Buffalo Spree Magazine as one of the "HOT FIVE" events of January! The event features more than 30 wineries, breweries, restaurants, and specialty/gourmet food vendors. Plus, every ticket includes a $5 food voucher! Also raffle baskets, 50/50 split, live music, and wine for sale by the bottle. Online tickets go on sale starting November 1st. Winter Closing

Weather-related Closings The Kenan Center (Business Office and Gallery) and Preschool are closed when the Lockport Schools are closed due to weather. Events scheduled for days when the Center is closed due to weather may still take place. Please refer to local TV stations for event cancellations. You can also call the Kenan Center Business number at 433-2617 for a recorded voicemail message about cancellations. The Kenan Arena and recreational programs may take place even if the Center is closed. If you have children in a program that is cancelled, you will be contacted. You can also call the Arena at 433-2619 to inquire if a program is cancelled. Generally, a decision to cancel a recreational program is made in the afternoon of a weather-related event. Promoters of special events not hosted by the Kenan Center that are cancelled due to weather are responsible for informing the public about the cancellation of their event. Again, we recommend watching your local news channel for event cancellations.
